Patchwork Parkour

Summary:

Harmonix was working on a new system for UEFN called Patchwork that allowed you to create and manipulate music and visuals in sync. Look North World was contracted to work on a new Fortnite Island that takes advantage of this new feature which involved making a musical platformer.

Responsibilities:

  • Create prototypes with Patchwork in ways that combined music with gameplay

  • Explore the camera options of UEFN to create that platformer feel

  • Work with engineers to optimize the prototypes for ship

  • Design and script the 4 sections of the game

    • Layout

    • Puzzles

    • Camera work and cinematics

    • Checkpoints

Ghoul Blasters

Summary:

I joined late in production of Look North World’s first Roblox title, Ghoul Blasters. A third person BR combined with the Grow a Garden gameplay loop.

Responsibilities:

  • Document and improve the weapon and camera systems

  • Create a brand new game mode within the game called Minigames that provided players with short gun based challenges for resources

  • Own the investigation and implementation of analytics and experiments (A/B testing)

  • Work with art and animation on how to implement new meshes and animations into various parts of the game

  • Improve feedback for weapons (Health bars, hit SFX, camera shake, etc)

  • Build tools that make game tuning easier
